The Spring Meet Committee is seeking suggestions as to how members would improve or make spring Meet better.
We are not a looking for controversy, heated discussions or criticisms on past events. We are seeking honest to goodness good ideas and suggestions
For example... I would like to see us bring xxxxx back. I would like to see xxx
This is a club event and is only going to be as good as the members make it.
Also...we are lookign for people to get involved on the Spring Meet Committee. If you are interested e-mail or call MBBA VP Wendy Bowles for more info.

I would like to see some demonstrations. I loved the fly tying we had a few years back. I still have the fly I made. Even though it was for the kids I enjoyed it too. or plug making demos, painting etc. We could get the pre-made kits. Sunshine would be nice. ;D

Spring meet is always the weekend before Memorial day, so this year it is May 16th and 17th (you can arrive Friday afternoon May 15th).
There are discussions of moving it to July in the future to see if more people would participate, what do you think?

I generally like XXX, but this is a family club...
Move Spring meet out of the school year, many kids are involved in sports, dancing, ect and keep the family busy at that time of the year. Later in the summer when the beaches are closed due to birds anyway may be a better alternative. It can't happen this year but now is the time to plan next year so the membership can make plans.
Bring back the hot dogs & chili, money is going to be even tighter this year, Maybe a chili cook off contest, if we could get 6 people interested, then do a blind judging contest as well as a general judging for the best and favorite (then one person wouldn't need to cook 10 gallons himself.) (maybe a pot luck for those sick of hot dogs after 10 projects!)
Contests, rather than just casting Umbrella and foul weather gear fashion contest. Biggest goose bumps Best looking Beach Buggy and Best looking camper Longest distance traveled to get to Spring meet Best desert
I still like XXX
Bad Peter (after all)

Having been to my fair share of spring meets, there are many things I'd "LIKE", to see come back. Anyone remember when we used to have a radio station broadcast live from the dance at spring all evening? I'd like to see karaoke for those that are into that stuff. How about inviting some tackle/boat reps? How about having someone from Audubon speak on some type of educational level? How about sweetening the pot in regards to the kids casting contest awards? I say bring back Reveille at 7:30am to wake everyones sorry a$$. Make certain that everything is set up and ready to go prior to Friday night, isn't that what Thursday night was for?? Find a full time MC like we always used to have, tough job, but you'll find somebody. Split the kids raffles throughout the weekend. Perhaps just before the dance begins, maybe even during the Saturday games. KEEP ON SCHEDULE!!!!! Keep it moving... 25 cent hot dogs are great, we need to raise the price a bit. How about throwing some decent grade burgers on the grill, both beef and chicken. I say we have a special raffle, maybe a charter or beach sticker or even a trip somewhere. Find something reasonably priced, set a ticket price and start ticket sales at the shows, through the projects and draw the ticket at the meet. Create some action for Friday night, it would take a little pressure off the weekend agenda. As for the future, I too believe it is time for a change. Perhaps a summer bash in July is the answer. For now, let's help make this spring meet the best it can be.

Oh Peter you are too funny ;D Scott good idea about the radio station. They also have lots of companies with vans set up to do that. I saw a Sunkist van last year in a supermarket parking lot and they played music all day and gave away free juice and soda and snacks. They also had PAT PATRIOT walking around signing pics. You would love that! ;D What about having a fishing contest, young and old. Maybe just a few hours in the very early morning for those that want to get out of bed early? Last year Rick and Kevin were catching schoolies on the front beach. Could give a prize for the biggest or the most. We could always use Gails fantastic basket idea and have each beach donate a basket for a special raffle. That could become a great new tradition.

Decorate your camper, car, truck contest. With balloons, signs, pictures.... Remember the parade in the old video? That must have been a blast! That would make our colors stand out. ;D

First off this topic should have it's own prominent topic header/ category. (like Conservation) So should Fall Banquet. They are getting lost in the shuffle.
I have another idea. How about a "YARD SALE"? Not a junk sale but a table for gently used fishing gear and camping stuff. I have a bunch of stuff that is still in good shape, some never used, stuff we have just outgrown using and stuff that is not good enough for the raffle tables. One man's junk.... All proceeds going to the club.
